An Experimental 224 Mb/s Digital Multiplexer-Demultiplexer Using Pulse Stuffing Synchronization

Elsewhere in this issue is a description of an experimental digital transmission terminal which has been used to demonstrate, among other things, the feasibility of multiplexing a variety of asynchronous* digital * T h e term asynchronous as used here means a lack of synchronism both among the various signals being multiplexed and with the multiplexing clock. T h e individual digital signals taken separately are synchronous following the normal usage of the word in data transmission in t h a t pulses occur at regular clock intervals. 1843 00 4-- PER CHANNEL Fig. 1 -- Pulse stuffing synchronization.
