An IN Transition Alternative

A good approach to managing the risks of Intelligent Network investment is to move in gradual steps from today's IN/1 architecture towards an architecture meeting the objectives providing by IN visions, such as IN/2, and IN/1+. Assuming TR 402/TA 460 as the starting point for post IN/1 intelligent networks, a set of desirable characteristics for the next step in IN evolution is proposed. Each desirable characteristic is described, the motivation for it elucidated, and some detailed suggestions for realizing it offered.
