An Integral Scrubber Gas Cabinet: Design, Development, Evaluation
Responsible corporations and communities require treatment of toxic gas effluent. The Uniform Fire Code, Article 80, now adopted in 17 states, requires that a worst case discharge must not exceed 1/2 IDLH at the exhaust stack. To comply with this code, dilution or scrubbing of the effluent is needed. The concept of integrating a passive scrubber within a gas cabinet has been developed. Various scrubbing media were evaluated for the treatment of hydrides. Full scale performance tests involving releases of arsine and phosphine are currently in progress. This scrubber concept may be used for control of other toxic effluents such as NH3, HCL. Results of these tests will be discussed.
