An Integrated Lightwave Transmitter Operating Up to 3 Gb/s, NRZ Using a DFB Laser Modulated with a Sub-Micron Silicon NMOS Driver

In this paper we present the performance of a component-level transmitter design which operates up to 3Gb/s, NRZ and incorporates a sub-micron silicon NMOS laser driver. The transmitter has been employed in a systems experiment at 2.4Gb/s over 35.2km of dispersion-shifted fiber with a sensitivity of -33.3dBm at a BER of 3 X 10 sup (-11).
