An Overview of ISDN Concept

AT&T is implementing ISDN capabilities and services in its products for the exchange carrier network, the premises network, and the AT&T Communications network. Real customer ISDN trials using the AT&T 5ESS sup TM switch are planned with Mountain Bell, Illinois Bell and Southern Bell. AT&T Communications will introduce its initial ISDN in 1987. The digital PBX family of AT&T has had ISDN-like interfaces for a number of years. These interfaces will evolve to the ISDN standard interfaces.
