An X-ray diffraction study on the microstructure of laser surface melted Cu-Al-Fe alloys.

Commercial Al bronzes (~5 at. % Fe, 13-28 at. % Al) have been laser surface melted and investigated by glancing angle X- ray diffraction. With increasing Al concentration of the Cu- Al-Fe alloys the following phases are retained: alpha, beta1 and mixtures of beta1/beta1.
