Bit Error Rate Characteristics in a Suburban Fading Environment
07 May 1990
Digital error rate measurements are described for a 30 kHz cellular channel transmitting at a rate of 48 kbps using pi/4-DQPSK modulation. The bit error rate (BER) is collected on a raw channel, i.e., without channel coding, using a PC-based measurement system. The performance is examined under noise, cochannel, and adjacent-channel interference (ranging from +90 kHz to -90 kHz). Data is collected under mobile conditions in a suburban environment, using a 100 foot cell site antenna transmitting to a mobile test van, and in the lab, using Rayleigh faders.
