Bleaching of exciton transition in Langmuir-Blondgett films of polydiacetylene.

Saturation absorption measurements by transmission with a few picosecond laser pulses performed on thin Langmuir- Blodgett films of polydiacetylene blue form at the absorption band are reported and discussed. The measurements give directly the imaginary part of Kerr susceptibility chi sup (3) (-omega;omega,omega,- omega) which is found to be a very large ( in excess of 10 sup (-8) e.s.u.) with fast response time (
