The advent of ISDN has provided loop operations support systems with the opportunity, in fact the necessity, to go directly to the network for data and for maintenance support. This presentation describes how the dynamic natures of some features, such as multipoint and automatic customer station rearrangement (ACSR), require that operations systems use database information from the switch for accurate linking of subscriber service to associated facility information. The presentation also describes a link between the switch and the OS systems, LMOS and MLT, used for data and for test resources and Basic Rate Access (BRA) information. Specifically, BRA performance monitoring data, user status data and protocol error data from the switch will be used, as needed, to sectionalize problems.
