Antennas which provide a good impedance match over a wide frequency range have been a topic of interest to hams for many years. Interest has been highlighted by several recent articles, and a recent patent. The appeal of a broadband antenna is obvious: fewer adjustments during tune up, and, for some of the new broadband transceivers and amplifiers, no tune up at all; after setting the band and frequency, one is 'in business.'
