Buffer allocation in delay ratio priority queueing
01 January 1986
A general methodology is developed for buffer allocation in the case of multiple queues served by one server team where a delay ratio queuing (DRQ) discipline is used for selecting the customers to be served. The main reasons for using buffer allocation are to reduce delays without throughput loss, and to control the quality of service given to the different queues under overload. The buffer allocation methodology has applications in operator related problems when different call types with different priorities are served by one server team.
