Bulk-Service Queue With Service Delay Policy.
03 April 1989
We study a bulk-service queueing problem which often arises in transportation systems, manufacturing systems and data communication systems. The model we consider is described as a transportation situation as follows. A Poisson stream of passengers arrive at a bus terminal. The bus in service can take B passengers per ride, and the passengers are served on an FCFS basis. The passengers (at most B of them) will board the bus as soon as it arrives. If the bus is already full, it will depart immediately, otherwise the bus driver will decide to depart immediately or at later time according to a policy P. Then the bus will deliver the passengers to a destination and return to the terminal.
