Call Connection and Service Control Protocols for Broadband Networks
This paper analyzes the problem of providing call connection, channel and service control in broadband and intelligent networks to support a wide variety of services. A formal methodology called Object Oriented Analysis (OOA) is used to analyze the problem. The Information Model and Object Communication Model are described at a high-level in this paper. From the Information Model, which is used to organize data, a signaling functional architecture that proposes a separation of transport from services is shown. Functional entities in which different objects reside are identified in this architecture. Based on the events used for inter-object communication as shown in the Object Communication Model, service specific Application Service Elements are defined for call, connection, channel and service control.
