Carbon K-Shell Excitation of Gaseous and Condensed Cyclic Hydrocarbons - C sub 3 H sub 6, C sub 4 H sub 8, C sub 5 H sub 8, C sub 5 H sub 10, C sub 6 H sub 12, and C sub 8 H sub 8
The carbon K-shell excitation spectra of gaseous cyclic hydrocarbons, both saturated (cycloprapane, cyclobutane, cyclopentane, cyclohexane) and unsaturated (cycloopentene, cyclohexene and cyclo-octatetraene), have been recorded by electron energy loss spectroscopy under dipole-dominated conditions. These are compared to the NEXAFS spectra of multilayers and mono- layers of C sub 4 H sub 8, C sub 5 H sub 8, C sub 6 H sub 12, and C sub 8 H sub 8 on Pt(111).
