Centralized Dynamic Point Blanking in LTE-Advanced Network for Inter-Cell Interference Mitigation
02 July 2015
In the cellular orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) system with integer frequency reuse of 1, the throughput of the cell-edge user equipment (UE) is sensitive to the inter-cell interference from the adjacent points in the same frequency channel. In order to solve this problem, coordinated multipoint (CoMP) transmission/reception has been introduced in the 3rd generation partnership project (3GPP) long-term evolution advanced (LTE-A) standard. Due to the recognized potential of CoMP dynamic point blanking (DPB) in LTE-A for inter-cell interference mitigation, this paper focuses on the solutions of CoMP DPB with both ideal backhaul and non-ideal backhaul in LTE-A Rel-11/Rel-12 and meanwhile provides its system-level evaluation results. According to obtained evaluation results, it could be concluded that CoMP DPB could improve the cell-edge throughput obviously and is robust for backhaul delay.
