Channel capacity calculation of a nonlinear optical fiber and an analytical solution to the non-linear schroedinger equation by the Volterra method

Using the Volterra perturbation series method, we have obtained an analytical solution to the non-linear Schroedinger equation. By extending the Shannon's information theory to optical fibers, our calculations indicate an optimal channel capacity of about 8 bps/Hz, well exceeding the current benchmark of 0.4 bps/Hz
