We demonstrate that the use of an optimized bielectrode reflective semiconductor optical amplifier as remote modulator reduces the chirp therefore the penalties for transmission from 6 to 4.5 dB on standard fibre at 2.5 Gbit/s over 50 km.

Simulation of carrier density are presented in order to explain the chirp reduction in multi-electrodes RSOAs. Using trielectrodes devices, penalty of 3 dB is obtained on same transmission conditions.
