Robust product and process design is an important technique for achieving high quality at low cost by reducing the sensitivity of product's response to sources of variation such as manufacturing and environmental variations and aging. In robust design, product or process parameter settings are tuned to minimize the average squared error loss resulting from deviation of the product's response from its target. the method examines the effect of a large number of variables simultaneously through balanced, orthogonal array experiments.
