Combined impact of double-Rayleigh backscatter and amplified spontaneous emission on receiver noise

We have expressed the dependence of ASE and DRB beat noises on the optical pulsewidths, optical and electrical filter bandwidths. Using short pulses increases immunity to DRB beat noise, while the use of narrower optical and/or electrical filters emphasizes the impact of DRB beat noise.
