The recently-published letter "Solar Wind Dynamic Pressure Variations and Transient Magnetospheric Signatures" by sibeck, Baumjohann, and Lopez (1989; hereafter referred to as sBL) reports "solar wind dynamic pressure" as "contrary to the prevailing popular view" of "magnetic merging" for the observations of two previously-reported transient signatures in magnetic and incoherent scatter radar data taken at high geomagnetic latitudes. I confine my remarks herein to an event previously published by my colleagues and me (Lanzerotti et al. 1987) and "re-interpreted" by SBL.
