Comparison of Counter-Heating Techniques for Frequency Drift Reduction of Burst Mode Directly Modulated Lasers

We experimentally investigated the frequency drift of burst-mode operating direct modulated lasers (DML) applicable for low-cost TWDM-PON. Counter-heating techniques using both a resistor and dummy diode with identical DMLs has been studied showing different drift performance and time behavior.
