Coordinated Multi-point Transmission in 3GPP LTE-Advanced
01 January 2009
Coordinated Multi-Point (CoMP) transmission / reception is being studied in LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) for further evolution of 3GPP LTE. Multi-site transmission along with coordinated scheduling will allow increased cell throughput and edge user data rate. It is foreseen that evolution of backhaul technology can accommodate increased backhaul requirements of CoMP in LTE-A deployment timeframe. In this paper, downlink CoMP schemes are discussed depending on backhaul capability and channel state information (CSI) / data availability in neighboring cells. Requirements on the feedback signal design to support different CoMP schemes are presented.
