A detailed experimental study of the effects on the received picture of c.w. interference occurring at various stages of the receiver. For this purpose interfering signals are injected into a standard type of receiver. A series of photographs illustrates the conclusions, among which the most prominent states that, if the interfering signal is stronger than 30 db below picture signal level, it can cause unpleasant effects, whereas at 40 db below it is ineffective. Interference in the synchronizing circuits is serious at 30 db below The types of screening and filtering called for are discussed.
