Overtone absorption and Raman spectra of H2 and D2 in silica optical fibers.
01 January 1984
We have recorded quantitative optical absorption and Raman spectra of H2 and D2 diffused into silica optical fibers at a pressure of 500 atm. The absorption spectra recorded were fundamental through third overtone for H2 (0.6-2.5micron) and first through fourth overtone for D2 (0.7-1.7micron). For hydrogen, the intense first overtone Q branch line has a peak absorption of 7100 dB/km/(4x10(20) molecules/cm(3)) at 1.2445micron wavelength, and approximately 70 dB/km/(4x10(20) molecules/cm (3)) at 1.30micron.
