Oxygen inhibition of acrylate photopolymerization.

When photocurable acrylate materials are exposed to ultraviolet light of sufficiently low intensity, as for example with a collimated imaging lamp, the surface of the film remains essentially uncured well after the bulk of the film has polymerized to a significant extent. This lack of surface cure is due to the inhibition effect of atmospheric oxygen with prevents polymerization.
