Lab overview

In our lab we design communication networks that configure themselves without manual intervention, and we build connected applications that enable continuous monitoring and optimization of modern industrial facilities. Our daily toolkit includes machine learning, operations research, statistics and mathematical optimization, and we always aim for solutions that have a solid theoretical grounding. Current projects include AI for self-optimizing networks, navigation and localization for autonomous industrial robots, knowledge extraction from unstructured databases, and drone-based industrial monitoring.

Research projects

We perform fundamental research in mathematics and AI, and apply the results to 5G/6G network optimization and industrial monitoring. We build models of industrial facilities and control autonomous robots and drones within them. We create intelligent controllers for cellular networks and extract knowledge from the logs they produce.

Careers

Network Optimization Intern
Available immediately, Location: Cambridge, UK

We are recruiting two interns to conduct high quality fundamental research into optimization of next-generation open networks, and the creation of digital twins for industrial applications. Candidates should be working towards a postgraduate degree in networking, machine learning, mathematics, data or computer science, computational methods or related field. A strong and proven background in wireless or wireline networking, mathematics, or computing sciences is desired, as is a natural interest in innovatively applying fundamental tools and methods to focused problem areas such as network optimization and digital twins. Experience writing code for large-scale systems and knowledge of visual computing and 3D modeling is a plus.
