Q: Hi Roopashree, it's great to have you here. Can you start by introducing yourself? What's your name, job title, and when did you join Nokia?
Roopashree: Absolutely! I'm Roopashree, and I work as a Technical Content Designer in the Mobile Networks Customer Documentation team at Nokia. I began my journey with Alcatel Lucent in 2008, and later, we merged with Nokia, and that's when I became part of this fantastic company.
Q: That's quite a journey, Roopashree. Can you tell us more about your career at Nokia? Have you worked in different roles or countries during your time with the company?
Roopashree: Well, my career at Nokia has primarily been within customer documentation teams. I've been fortunate to work on various projects, collaborate with different teams, and even take on individual responsibilities.
Q: When you first joined Nokia, what was your initial impression? What motivated you to stay with the company?
Roopashree: Initially, it was the merger with Nokia that brought me in. But what's kept me here all these years is the amazing work culture, the strong emphasis on work-life balance, and the constant stream of interesting challenges.
Q: Can you describe your current job role and your primary responsibilities at Nokia? It sounds like you're involved in various activities.
Roopashree: Certainly! I'm a Technical Content Designer, which means I regularly collaborate with subject matter experts to gather input, share content for review, and handle document deliveries through the delivery portal. On top of that, I also serve as a fault coordinator in our team. As a writer, I've had the opportunity to work on numerous videos and graphics, not just within my team but also on various other projects. Plus, I've been actively involved in various Technology Center activities, including collaborations, Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, and event videos, to name a few.
Q: It's great to hear about your achievements, Roopashree. Can you share a key accomplishment or successful project that you're particularly proud of during your time with the company?
Roopashree: Over the years, my involvement in various forums at Nokia Bangalore has earned me several awards and accolades. I was awarded the Nokia Woman Achiever last year and received the Innovation Award in 2020, 2021, and 2022. These awards were in recognition of my contributions to the Innovation Board Bangalore forum and the Nokia Bangalore University Collaboration. I've also received the Business Excellence Award from the Customer Documentation team for my engagement in the Reference for Discovery Center project.
Q: It's clear you've made significant contributions. How has Nokia supported your professional development through training, mentorship, or growth opportunities?
Roopashree: Nokia places a strong emphasis on continuous learning and professional development. They offer various opportunities for training, workshops, and mentorship programs that have been instrumental in my career growth. I've recently ventured into mentoring and leadership training this year, and I'm looking forward to the benefits I can reap from these programs in the future.
Q: Have you encountered any challenges during your time at Nokia? If so, what did you learn from these experiences?
Roopashree: Challenges are part of any job, and I've certainly faced some during my tenure at Nokia. One key lesson I've learned is that change is inevitable, and it often leads to personal and professional growth. There have been times when juggling multiple deadlines required careful prioritization and multitasking. From these experiences, I've learned the importance of adaptability, continuous learning, teamwork, and resilience.
Q: Can you share more about your team dynamic and the workplace culture at Nokia? How do they contribute to your daily experience?
Roopashree: Our team dynamic and workplace culture play a significant role in shaping my daily experience at Nokia. Our team is highly collaborative and supportive. We work closely together, fostering creativity and innovation through open discussions and brainstorming sessions. Roopashree: As a technical content designer, my work plays a crucial role in improving communication, enhancing user experiences, and shaping perceptions of brands and products. It makes information more accessible and user-friendly, ultimately contributing to the company's success. On a day-to-day basis, it impacts people by making their interactions with Nokia more efficient and enjoyable.
Q: How do your personal values align with Nokia's values?
Roopashree: Embracing innovation and creativity has always been my ethos, while my steadfast determination and adventurous spirit ignite my capabilities, empowering me to make informed decisions that pave the way for continuous growth.
Q: Let's talk about maintaining a healthy work-life balance. How do you manage this, and how has Nokia supported this aspect of your life? Also, tell us about your hobbies.
Roopashree: Maintaining a healthy work-life balance is crucial, and Nokia supports this well. Post-pandemic, the company has been great in ensuring this balance. During my free time, I enjoy sketching, cooking, travelling, and tending to my garden.
Q: Can you share a memorable moment, event, or interaction that left a lasting impression on your career journey?
Roopashree: One memorable moment for me was designing a virtual inaugural ceremony during the pandemic for the Bangalore Innovation Day celebration, where Tommi Uitto was inaugurating the event. They were impressed with the virtual lamp lighting video, a custom considered very auspicious in India.
Q: Is there anyone you'd like to express gratitude to, whether it's mentors, colleagues, friends, or family, who have helped you in your career journey?
Roopashree: I'd like to express my gratitude to my managers, past and present, for providing opportunities for me to utilize my skills. Heartfelt thanks to my cherished friends and beloved family, who have been exceptionally supportive.
