Opening conversation around mental health

“We are not alone.”

The majority of people in the world will experience a diagnosable mental health condition at some point during their lives, whether they are aware of it or not, and whether they receive treatment or not. This vast number of “hidden” health problems can create further stigma and shame, anxiety, depression and isolation. Our ShareToCare employee resource group aims to minimize these effects early on by encouraging colleagues to be fearless when talking about mental health problems and well-being at work.

Our growing peer-to-peer network and discussion forums connect people in a psychologically safe and respectful environment, where employees can feel comfortable sharing their personal experiences, or listening to others share. By breaking down traditional barriers on topics related to mental health, we make early emotional support more accessible through direct conversations, dialogue, space, and time needed to feel seen and heard. Whether we join the ShareToCare sessions as caregivers, family members, friends, or co-worker allies, we can join knowing that our stories and our struggles will be kept confidential and that we can lean on one another for support.

“We need more of this.”

Set up in the summer of 2022, our group does not provide professional counselling or medical care as such but offers support from peers, who may have been in similar situations. Trust is the key to opening doors and it goes without saying that confidentiality is paramount to the success of our activity.

When needed, we direct people to our company’s Personal Support Service, which provides more extensive support to employees and their families. The service offers confidential support and guidance across a range of emotional, practical, and work-life issues, as well as mindfulness coaching to help with managing stress, and coaching to help navigate life transitions.

“It opened a door to share my feelings.”

Here are a few testimonials from employees that have participated in our sessions.
