Nokia Fixed Networks Fundamentals

Course number: FN00200
Course duration: 4 days
Price: €3,200

Course overview

This hands-on course targets network operators, designers, architects, and sales engineers responsible for the fixed access network solution used to deliver customer services such as Voice, Data and IPTV to home and business subscribers over FTTH/FTTx optical distribution network (ODN) and/or a Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) network. This course provides an overview of Nokia’s SDAN solution used to provide and manage value-added services to subscribers in their homes or businesses.

Students learn the capabilities of the Nokia Fiber to the Home (FTTH) and Fiber to the X (FTTx) solutions. Students are introduced to the Lightspan FX and MF product portfolio of Optical Line Termination (OLT) products and Optical Network Termination Units (ONTs), along with the Altiplano SDAN product used to manage Lightspan OLTs and ONTs in the access network. An understanding of the basic capabilities of the FastMile FWA controller, along with the capabilities of the Corteca Home Controller, are learned.

Nokia products used in the business or home network are identified. The basic function and use of FWA devices, ONT devices, Customer Premise Equipment (CPE), and Residential gateways (RGs) are described.  Key concepts required to support service delivery will be learned such as: unicast, broadcast, and multicast forwarding, along with IGMP, multicast, and QoS techniques required to offer services to home subscribers.

Hands-on labs allow students to observe the Altiplano CLI and GUI and how Altiplano models HSI and IPTV service delivery on the Lightspan MF-2 and Lightspan FX-4. Course material will reinforce concepts learned in the lab and teach how the Altiplano solution uses intent-based networking to simplify configuration and maintenance of triple play and value-added business services offered using the Nokia Fixed Network portfolio.
