Biography

Theodore (Tod) Sizer (Fellow, IEEE) is the Head of Optical Systems and Device Research with Nokia Bell Labs, leading international teams innovating in all aspects of Optical Systems and Devices for core, metro, fixed, submarine, and data center communications. Prior to his current role, Tod lead Wireless Research with Nokia Bell Labs until 2017 driving the vision and research of 5G and support for the 4th Industrial revolution. As such, he is now able to bring the expectations of this revolution to address new challenges in connecting the people, machines, industries, and campuses through the new dynamic deterministic IP and Optical networks required.

In 2012, he was the recipient of the Popular Science Breakthrough Innovation Award for the lightRadio invention. Tod is a Fellow of Bell Labs and WWRF. He is the author of 54 US patents and a member of the IEEE and OSA.
