Biography
Alexandre da Silva Veith joined Nokia Bell Labs as a Researcher Software Engineer in August 2022. Previously, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Toronto (Canada). Alexandre holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from École Normale Supérieure de Lyon, France, and an M.Sc. degree from the University of Vale dos Sinos – Unisinos, Brazil.
Alexandre's work focuses on distributed software systems on cloud-edge infrastructure. His contributions address problems in a wide-ranging set of topics such as distributed file systems, ML (early exit, DNN partitioning, and DNN placement), elasticity and reconfiguration of stream processing systems, and single/multi-objective optimizations. His solutions investigate mechanisms by exploiting queueing theory, graph theory, reinforcement learning, federated learning, machine learning, heuristics, solvers, among others. Alexandre is an active member of the research community. He published over 20 papers, served more than 15 PCs, and reviewed papers for top-tier journals.
