Biography
I am a research engineer with 13 years of experience in network conception, optimization/performance evaluation and development, in the fields of optical and computer networks. My key areas of expertise and competences are:
a) implementation of computer network physical and data link layer functionalities on the FPGA platforms;
b) optical packet/burst switching technology and hybrid optical packet(burst) switching/optical circuit switching technology for use in future data centers, future metro-access/metropolitan/backbone networks and future 5G network (e.g. fronthaul and Xhaul parts of network);
c) computer network planning/dimensioning;
d) performance evaluation and traffic engineering mechanisms in optical networks;
e) network traffic description and modeling;
f) conception of new control plane and physical layer mechanisms, such as scheduling, admission control mechanisms, mechanisms for ensuring quality-of-service, stability, synchronization, optical network virtualization, NFV;
g) conception of new optical networks, by inventing novel node architectures, network architectures, network protocols and data link layer mechanisms of ISO/OSI layer reference model (the innovation is based on the requirements and properties of the optical components, desired network/system properties, and confirmed by system and architecture validation by theoretical and experimental studies);
h) application of machine learning (reinforcement learning) for building the network solutions and mechanisms (at data link and physical layer) that are model-free and adaptive to the change of network conditions (implemented in higher programming languages or in combination with the FPGA development).
For the first time in the world (to the best of my knowledge), together with my co-authors, I have contributed to the following problems (in the optical packet switching networks):
- The stability of the insertion process when using the fast-tunable lasers;
- The optical network virtualization of torus data centers;
- The deterministic scheduling with zero-jitter for slotted networks with fixed inter-slot intervals.
I hold a Ph.D. degree in information and communication science and technology from Télécom Bretagne, Brest, France (2010), and M.Sc. degree in telecommunications from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Belgrade, Serbia (2006).
I was born on 20th March 1981 in Zrenjanin, Serbia.
Since 2014, I work as a research engineer at Nokia Bell Labs in Nozay.
