Biography

I am a Research Scientist in the Math & Algorithms Group, AAAID Lab. I started my career as a theoretical physicist with a PhD from Umeå University, exploring the theory of quantum measurement. As a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge I contributed to a large UK wide collaboration on quantum computation. In 2011 I joined Nokia Research Center in Cambridge as a researcher in the Quantum Technologies team supplying theoretical understanding for the efforts in quantum key distribution and linear optics quantum computing. With the foundation of Nokia Technologies in 2014 I refocussed my research work on machine learning. From 2016 I was the leader of the Analytics and Machine Learning team in Nokia Technologies Labs, and from 2017 the interim leader of the Advanced Research Lab. In 2018 I joined Nokia Bell Labs as an individual contributor. I have been working on the topics of efficient machine learning and emerging computing technologies since.

  • 2001 Graduated as M. Sc. (Dipl. Ing.) from TU Wien with distinction
