Biography
Dr. Meryem Simsek is head of the Network Architecture Research (NAR) Lab at Bell Labs and is leading an interdisciplinary team of experts to drive network architecture innovations across multiple network layers and across all network segments, including access, metro, transport, and data centers. The NAR lab is taking an integrated approach to the design of future network architectures. The research aims to identify new solutions for monetization, sustainability, energy efficiency, performance improvement, security, and customers’ total-cost-of-ownership optimization.
Previously, Dr. Simsek has held various scientific leadership roles with VMware, Intel Labs, UC Berkeley and ICSI, and Technical University Dresden. Her research background and interest spans a wide range of topics including but not limited to distributed systems, ambient networks, AI/ML and multi-agent systems, E2E system modelling and optimization, game theory, control theory.
