- Research in the direction of hardware accelerators
Aug. 2010 – Dec. 2013: Postdoctoral researcher, Semiconductor Physics Laboratory, Physics Department, KU Leuven
- Investigation of defects at the atomic level using the electron spin resonance technique.
- My research relevant for fields as solar cells, flash memories, CMOS technology, photonics, nanosensors, geological sediments dating, etc.
- Studied structures include single-crystal arrays of Si nanowires, Si or Ag nanoparticles either freestanding or embedded in different amorphous oxides, magnetic polymers, interfaces of crystalline semiconductors with oxides, GeSn, SiO2 nanosprings etc.
- The effect of irradiation (VUV, UV, gamma-rays, X-rays, etc.), thermal, and chemical treatments on the various structures is studied using the paramagnetic defects as atomic probes.
- Results dissemination through different channels to a diverse international audience, actively attending prestigious international conferences (as an invited speaker, oral, and posters presentations) and coordinating meetings with international collaborators.
- Knowledge transfer; guiding Ph.D, master, and undergraduate students.
- Help colleagues to solve technical problems; equipment troubleshooting.
- Organize measurements in the research group during meetings with the head of the laboratory.
Aug. 2010 – Dec. 2013: Researcher in the IWT project SiLaSol, focused on novel concepts based on all-Si multi-gap solar cells and reducing the Si use by kerf- loss-free wafering technology. During this time I worked closely with members of the solar cell group in imec and universities in Flanders investigating properties of the proposed structures and recommending improvements.
Nov. 2005 – July 2010: PhD student, Semiconductor Physics Laboratory, Physics Department, KU Leuven
- Research was focused on the interfaces of Si nanoparticles with the embedding oxide fabricated by different techniques, fundamental investigation of E'd defect in amorphous SiO2, photoresist layers, low-k oxides etc., as studied by electron spin resonance techniques.
- Guided undergraduate and master students with individual laboratory projects.
- Instructed 1st year students for the experimental physics laboratory.
- Took care of the library of our research group.
