Biography

Niloofar Okati is a radio research scientist at Nokia Bell Labs, Espoo, Finland. She earned her Ph.D. from Tampere University, where her dissertation, "Modelling and Analysis of Massive Low Earth Orbit Communication Networks," was approved with distinction and awarded the Dissertation prize from both the Tampere University Foundation and the Industrial Research Fund at Tampere University. Recognized for her academic excellence, Niloofar received the Nokia Foundation Scholarship and the Tampere University Industrial Fund during her Ph.D. studies.

Niloofar conducts research in a broad area in wireless communications, with a focus on non-terrestrial networks (NTNs), covering several key aspects such as PHY layer performance analysis, spectrum management, opportunistic positioning, and navigation. She applies tools such as machine learning and stochastic geometry to analyze and optimize wireless communication systems. Niloofar has made significant contributions to the field, with several high-impact publications in top-tier journals and conferences. Her research, widely cited, provides key analytical insights into satellite communication networks. 

She is also an active member of the academic community, serving as a reviewer for IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications and IEEE Wireless Communications Letters, contributing to the advancement of wireless and satellite communication research.
