Philippe Dobbelaere

Biography

I obtained a master of Science in Engineering degree (nat. ir.) from the RUG, Ghent, Belgium in 1988. 

I have been working for Alcatel-Lucent in various roles covering research, board and ASIC hardware and software design on topics ranging from ATM switches, DSL modems (I was HW responsible for the ATM subsystem - specification and test - and the analogue frontend - full design - of ADSL R3) and high speed network processors (HW/SW codesign and verification) to advanced software architectures for distributed computing. 

With the acquisition of Timetra , I joined IPD and worked on the next generation network processor used in our L2/L3 network elements. I assisted in the ASIC verification, and worked on codeflow optimization aspects of the in-house compiler tool used to develop SW functionality on that network processor.

In 2007, I joined the  R&I service platform group (now Bell Labs) as principal research engineer. 

Back at research, I defined a research roadmap in the machine 2 machine domain for the service infrastructure team, and was successful in defining funded external projects executing on this roadmap. 

With other members of our research group we created the Sensetale application development and execution platform and have contributed to the ETSI M2M standardisation process.
