Biography

Sylvain Almonacil (Member, IEEE) was born in Fontainebleau, France, in 1991. He received the M.Sc. Eng. degree in optics and photonics from the Institut d'Optique, Palaiseau, France, in 2016, and the Ph.D. degree in physics from the Paris-Saclay University, Paris, France, in 2019. Since 2016, he has been a Research Engineer within the Optical Systems and Devices Research Lab, Nokia Bell Labs, Massy, France. His main research interests include digital signal processing for both terrestrial and free-space optical transmissions. In the last 2 years, he focused on experimental demonstrations of high-speed optical fiber transmissions over long-haul and ultra long-haul distances at up to 1.2-Tbps.
