Patrik Hammarén

Acting President of Nokia Technologies

Patrik is Acting President of Nokia Technologies - Nokia’s patent, technology, and brand licensing business. Patrik and his team are responsible for protecting, managing, and monetizing Nokia’s industry-leading patent portfolio, driving innovation through investment in 5G, 6G, and multimedia R&D and standardization, and advising the other Nokia business groups on their IP strategy.

Nokia Technologies completed its smartphone patent licensing renewals in February 2024, signing seven major agreements in fourteen months, including licenses with Apple and Samsung. Nokia Technologies also continues to make strong progress with its patent licensing growth areas of automotive, consumer electronics, the Internet of Things, and multimedia.

Prior to his current role, Patrik held several senior positions in Nokia Technologies’ licensing business including: Chief Licensing Officer Wireless Technologies; Vice President, Head of IoT Licensing Program; and Head of Patent Licensing Greater China. During this time, he was heavily involved in the renewal of many of Nokia’s major smartphone license agreements.

Patrik also has extensive experience in IP strategy, business development, and transactions and has a master's degree in law from Helsinki University and a master’s degree in science from Aalto University.

Outside of work Patrik enjoys reading, playing sports, and spending time with his family, especially watching his sons play ice hockey.
