Lab exam registration, management, and cancellation
Nokia offers practical lab exams to support the certification requirements for optical network services expert, optical network design expert, and optical network architect. These exams ensure a candidate’s ability to design, configure, manage, and troubleshoot optical networks based on the 1830 Photonic Service Switch (PSS) portfolio.
Lab exams are offered virtually or from select Nokia locations identified below. Candidates must have completed the necessary prerequisites to register for a lab exam. Once exam prerequisites are completed, candidates need to purchase a lab exam. Once payment is secured, the candidate will be able to select an available exam date from the website.
Use our My Nokia Optical Lab to help you prepare for the exam. My Nokia Optical Lab provides remote, dedicated access to a Nokia optical lab environment, including lab types, focused on 1830 PSS, 1830 EPT, and NFM-T. Features include:

Lab exam locations
Lab exams are delivered in person at select Nokia facilities worldwide or through virtual delivery. Review the global Nokia locations and time zones for virtual delivery available to take the lab exams below. Currently, only our Ottawa-Canada location is available for in-person deliveries.
Book your virtual lab exam by registering at any one of the virtual locations. You can choose from any of the following regions:

Virtual lab exam requirements and delivery:
To successfully participate in the virtual lab exams, candidates require the following:
- A webcam and microphone
- A computer with a minimum of 4 Mbps end-to-end connection (wired network connections preferred)
- Windows 10.0
- Microsoft Edge 11.0
- Candidates must have administrative privileges on the computer to download two applications, including an ExamPlayer image (37.5 GB), and have at least 60 GB of free hard disk space
- 12 GB of RAM (6GB dedicated allocated memory for VMPlayer)
- Hardware virtualization support at CPU level on the PC (Intel VTx).
All exams will be proctored in real-time by a virtual Nokia proctor. Candidates will be asked to complete, and verify they can meet the requirements for, the Nokia Virtual Proctored Lab Exam Setup and Candidate Checklist before their exam to ensure successful delivery.

- Optical Network Design Expert Lab Exam: €650
- Optical Network Services Expert Lab Exam: €900
- Optical Network Architect Lab Exam: €1150
Once the exam prerequisites are completed, candidates need to purchase a lab exam. Once payment is secured, the candidate can select an available exam date from the website.

You will need a Nokia account to access the Lab Exam Registration tool. If you don’t have an account, you can create one here by clicking “New User?” Nokia employees should use their employee credentials to log in.

Cancellation Policy
Please be aware that our cancellation/rescheduling policy applies up to 15 days before your lab exam. If it is not done within this period, Nokia does incur charges as a third party provides our proctoring resources.
